Eric Clapton’s career would certainly have been different without Mayall. Clapton was just one of his successful students. And the career of the group ‚Jethro Tull‘ with Ian Anderson is also hardly conceivable in the form we know it. The first album by ‚Jethro Tull‘ was mainly a blues record – in the slipstream of John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, so to speak. Anderson decided to play the flute because he was sure he would never be able to play the guitar like Clapton. A huge compliment.<\/p>\n
On Monday (22nd July 2024) , John Mayall, who released an album just two years ago at the age of 88, died at the age of 90. Here is a live performance with Eric Clapton from 2003 for Mayall’s 70th birthday (maybe I should let my hair grow a little longer at 70): John Mayall feat.
